The fandom mocks Mamoru’s fashion sense but you know who has the real terrible fashion sense? THE SAILOR STARLIGHTS! Their workout outfits, their date outfits, Seiya’s tuxedo and their sailor form etc.

Each of these outfits has multiple layers, and it works on none of them. 

Even in Minako’s imagination, they don’t have enough dignity to resist the magnetic pull of these sparkly epaulets and bellbottom slacks.

And, my personal favorite:

SOS (Save Our Shirts)

Maybe their band wasn’t much to talk about but their careers as style icons were FLOURISHING in 1997. 

I have yet to decide if this is an intentional continuity flaw, or if Usagi just has several incredibly similar photos stashed in various locations around her room.

BUT WAIT: THERE’S MORE

I just happened upon this picture from episode 173, which appears to be exactly the same as the one from 182 (minus the frame, which is not intrinsic to the photograph itself). Though I’m certain more than one picture was ever taken of this couple, the fact that it’s on Usagi’s desk each time and that their poses are identical leads me to believe it’s intended to be the same photo. This additional instance of continuity (again barring Usagi’s apparent penchant for swapping frames) indicates both that perhaps this change is intentional and that I, officially, care way too much about this cartoon about magical girls

Mamoru leaving for college to be unceremoniously replaced by Seiya is basically exactly what happened with Steve and Joe in “Blue’s Clues”

I thought that “Star Serious Laser” was the stupidest attack phrase until Usagi opened her mouth to utter “Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss”

Those boots are approximately three inches away from being pants.
