Ah thanks! ^_^; I’m just starting out, got really lucky with the guy who’s doing all the work on this project since he’s juggling this and several projects including Dominion. But yeah that’s my theory, last arc and they couldn’t afford to risk ending it on a weak note. ^_^

“weak note”

LITERALLY, AM I RIGHT

There is actually another couple of songs the three lights have, but I don’t think any of them show up in the series. Todokanu Omoi is one that all three of them sing, and then all of them each have an image song. Seiya’s song (“Ginga Ichi Mibun Chigai na Kataomoi,” aka a friggin’ mouthful) is far and away one of the best! And also, if you…. want to stray to the dark side to the musicals, the show creators had the same thought that it was stupid to be famous for one song and gave them two. 8|a

That puts my mind at ease a bit. I know that the “Search for your Love” one holds significance because it was in-story written for the princess, but I agree it makes sense to have a few more at least to keep up appearances of being a real band rather than being revealed as interplanetary immigrants with a DREAM in their HEARTS

Well I’m sure that in a lot of ways it was a toss up between good music or good animation, writing, cast, etc. Especially if the cast/crew they were booking was high profile (which holds a LOT of weight on viewers, promoters, etc.) I don’t know much about the animation end of the industry personally. But I do have a little experience/idea on the film industry as I’m currently an exec producer of a project.

First: that’s awesome that you’re an exec producer!

I suppose, especially if they knew it was going to be the last season, that they would put everything they had into the lovely visuals and the emotionally intense script.

WELCOME TO SAILOR MOON, WHERE EVERYONE IS SYMPATHETIC AND THE REDEMPTION ARCS DON’T MATTER

I’m pretty sure the reason why there wasn’t much by way of diverse music in Stars was due to production reasons. My producer was telling me that to get the rights alone is expensive so making fresh tracks would be expensive. I’m sure the execs had to focus on story, animation, and the cast– plus whatever else– and couldn’t afford to invest much in the music. :P Although seriously the image of the starlights getting famous for just ONE song is hilarious though.

You’re right, music means having to hire a ton of new people to write, perform, and produce the songs. I would have thought that since the whole season revolves around a band, they would have invested their resources into the music. But as you said, the idea that they just wrote ONE SONG and that’s all they have for their concerts and radio appearances is really funny.
