Iconic moments in 16 bits because I was bored at work
Guardress here, with an explanation for the Chibiusa thing: in the anime, Chibiusa is only around 7-9 years old, and she was conceived hundreds of years in the future after Neo Queen Serenity awakens the Earth from the mysterious deep-freeze. However, her origin in the other adaptations is much different, and it’s canon that she was born June 30th, the day Usagi turned 22. From their birthdays we also know that Usagi and Mamoru wed when Usagi was 21, sometime around September/October.
I like that Chibiusa is either like 5 or like 900 THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN
Well if it was canon that the last episode was the baby-making of Chibiusa, Usagi is 16 that last episode so… yeah… The only thing we can go off of is that Naoko Takeuchi did participate in the writing/directing of the anime, so being that she makes the plot canon in both the anime and manga, she probably stuck to the same 21/22 year old Usagi having Chibiusa instead of 16 year old.
Just to be clear, I’m here to make jokes, not to endorse teen pregnancy.

Your tags lmao!! I was totally thinking the same thing while watching that scene. I kept waiting and waiting… But disappointment! I hated that they never tied up any loose ends with chibs. Even a flashforward to crystal tokyo would have been nice.
Literally anything confirming her existence would have made me happy. NeoQueen Serenity writes a letter to Usagi saying how happy Chibiusa is in the future. Pluto uses her canonical time powers to travel to Crystal Tokyo and check on her favorite Small Lady. Chibiusa texts Mamoru with a video of Diana chasing a ball of crystal yarn because she knows he can’t get enough of them.
Or, you know, if she were to fall from the sky right on top of them, it wouldn’t be the first time.
ehhh it’s kind of canon that Usagi gave birth to Chibiusa when she was twenty one, so I really doubt the other anon’s theory.
well, the future’s always changing…
I choose to think that chibiusa didn’t appear in the last episode because Usagi and Mamoru just created her after that kiss under the moonlight.
oh
OH

Congratulations! I cried at the end of Sailor Moon when i was a child, i cried during rewatch couple of years ago aaaannnnd i’m crying now over your livetweets. Why is Sailor Moon hurting me in this way.
Sailor Moon: the chronic fibromyalgia of anime.
They say to love is to suffer, but the trade-off is we don’t have to suffer alone. We have pain enough to share with everybody! Huzzah!
