night on the galactic railroad is ne of the most referenced books in anime so that’ll probably come in handy (also there’s a movie and characters are cats in there if you want more of that)

me, looking up into the night sky: nice Galactic Railroad reference

I’m definitely going to check out the movie and maybe make my entire family watch it with me. It’s on Crunchyroll if anyone is interested!

New theory Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card is actually just advertisement of those books, Matryomins, and also cooking. It’s like extreme product placement. “Hey guys, who’s paying for this episode?” “A children’s book about a fix buying gloves” “The episode could be them reading this book to kids” “What about the plot?” “I told you, they read the book” “no, about the clear cards plot” “oh! shit we forgot about that again, put a scene with Eriol saying they can’t tell Sakura what going on again”

When I started Clear Card, the last thing I expected it to be was in-depth cooking tutorials and actual informative lectures about Japanese children’s literature and lesser known musical instruments. This isn’t the content I would normally seek out on my own, but it’s slipped in to something that I was watching anyway. It’s like hiding a vitamin in cat food: the cat doesn’t eat the vitamin on its own merits, but ends up eating it because it’s all just part of the meal.

i’ve been super invested in your pt liveblog, and i can’t wait to see you start on s2. so, if you’re up to answering this, i’m curious to know what you think of pt after getting through s1 / what you expect from s2?? ( god knows that pt is so unpredictable that one can’t probably accurately predict everything, but again, curious to see what you think! )

Thank you thank you! Surprisingly this season wrapped up a lot of the character arcs and plot elements really well, so I think everything in the back half is going to come completely out of left field. Princess Kraehe is definitely going to be back because no one with that much emotional baggage leaves so suddenly. Mytho, I think, still has a couple of emotions to get back, because right now he only has Love, and that’s gonna be a problem until he can snag Self-Preservation to keep it in check. Except, once all the puzzle pieces of his heart are put back together, Princess Tutu is going to be out of a job. And Drosselmeyer clearly won’t stop until he’s written a story where everyone is suffering, so that’s something to deal with.

Actually the only thing I know for sure is going to happen is that this show is going to do its best to fuck me up.

OMG, I’ll die of excitement if you start blogging SeraMyu! :D Honestly, I’d just start from the beginning. With the original Bandai musicals, the oldest ones are WEIRD, but you get to see them improving in terms of quality while still retaining their wackiness. Also, there are some in-jokes in some of them that only make sense if you’ve seen the previous ones. The five 20th anniversary musicals are a separate thing entirely, though they do have occasional throwbacks to the old ones.

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on this! I appreciate it. Chronological is definitely one way to do it, but even then there’s the original vs. kaiteiban versions. I’ll defer to the judgment of the masses when I get there! 💕

Sorry to be THAT GUY but will you be returning to watch/blog about sailor moon related stuff? Like crystal or the musicals?

Yes, definitely! Sailor Moon is my ride or die. I want to read the manga at some point just for completionism’s sake, but I don’t know if I’d have much to say about it. And I’d feel better about blogging Crystal now that the ~drama~ has died down. THE MUSICALS are my top priority, though there’s so many that I have no idea where to start.

TL;DR I have no direction in life so I’ll probably toss it up to a vote when I finish Tutu (or need an emotional break from it)
