@cutie-tabootie submitted to sailormoonsub:

Fun fact- that “Moon Cycle” was one of the only remains of what we ALMOST got for an English “adaptation” of Sailor Moon instead of the dub- they were going to use new vehicles for the Sailor Senshi (called the “Princess Warriors/Fighters” in this version) and that was going to be one of them. It’s not in this video, but here’s what almost happened in the US.

This is like the child of the MST3K opening and The Babysitter’s Club if it was given up for adoption and raised by Too Many Cooks and a series of bootleg “Planetary Marine Girl” toys. This is the most delightfully alienating premise I have ever seen. It’s just confusing to every possible demographic. The constant laughter of bemusement that underlies the generic pop song speaks for itself. What a thing.

I do appreciate that one of them is in a wheelchair, though. And that they are actual literal moon sailors.

@silver-millennial linked to this in the last submission, and it’s a truly hilarious specimen of capitalism. What a piece of work is this marketing scheme.

Queen Beryl has captured the Sailor Scouts. But her dreams of power are about to turn into a nightmare!

[CLOSE UP OF THE BEDAZZLED PURPLE WHEEL OF A GLORIFIED PLASTIC TRICYCLE]

Here comes Sailor Moon on her Moon Cycle! Now it’s Sailor Moon’s turn to dream!

The Moon Cycle has nothing to do with the show. A Moon Cycle would offer little help if any to the individuals tied up to a pillar. The aforementioned individuals have multiple powers, including fire, light, and teleportation, that are more objectively useful than the ability to drive a larger-than-average tricycle. The Moon Cycle is needlessly linked to the concept of dreaming and the triumph of good for absolutely no discernible reason.
