(2) and as far as I remember, PGSM is also the only version that didn’t have him sprout misogynist nonsense at some point in the series. The problem with the shitennou is literally that you have to headcanon entire personalities in them because there is very little to work with, and Jadeite, sorry bro maybe you were better, but there isn’t much evidence for that

I assume based on the numbering that this had a first part as well, but as we know, Tumblr is an eternally hungry eating machine.

You state the problem with anime Jadeite very eloquently, though! His backstory has basically no canon explanation. Making up head canons for elements with minimal in-story support or taking what’s given at face value are both valid ways to read the story, I think. Everyone ranges from creative to analytical. Whatever works for you is what works!

This, and I definitely need to see PGSM for a list of reasons that’s growing by the minute.

EDIT: Here’s the first part, thanks for sending it in!

(1) About the whole Jadeite thing…the problem is that the shitennou really don’t have much personality int he first place, so each canon had to work with them and invent a personalty for them since in the manga, they’re blank as fuck, the 90’s bothered to give them a bit of personality, PGSM went down the OC route (and it worked, the pgsm shitennou are p great), Crystal is nothing as well, and as far as I’ve seen from the musicals, they didn’t do this ‘they were actually a good guys’ any favours.
