Did you know the first opening of R shows Tuxedo Mask’s concept design with the white outfit and that Naoko originally was going to call him “Mysterious 2098 Face” xDDD.

I never paid enough attention to notice the different outfit, but you know what? He really pulls off that butterfly mask, shoulder pads, navel-length V-neck, and various shades of off-white look.

and honestly, Mysterious 2098 Face is not at all a worse name than Tuxedo Mask except for the amount of time it would take for Usagi to say “Mysterious 2098 Face-sama” mid-battle, which could cost them a few crucial seconds.

In regards to the post that said SMC Season III had a lot of callbacks to S: the biggest callback I saw was the opening sequence. There are a lot of similarities between that & the original S opening, if you compare the two.

I noticed that the two of them had a similar “casually lounging on decimated architecture” motif going on.

Sailor Moon R Opening [2/2]

videoflesh:

the second opening animation for Sailor Moon is literally one of the most aesthetically pleasing things I’ve ever seen so here’s the creditless / textless version

This is a cute title card, but… who’s the guy in the back with the top hat

Eight seconds of this opening are dedicated to Tuxedo Mask hovering in space. He doesn’t even appear in this season.

Sailor Stars is the only theme song I never skip and it’s probably because of this frame

Based on the new elements in the intro, I can only assume this arc is entirely disco-themed.

I cannot be the only one who imagines these four singing a perfect barbershop-quartet chord.
