Rei’s actress is now a mainstream celeb in Japan, and it’s a subtle Easter egg that a lot of her TV shows after PGSM have at least one reference to Sailor Moon. A lot of the main cast has PGSM as their first acting job.

Excellent. Infuse a little extra Sailor Moon into everything. 

And, wow, first acting job? That’s incredible. THEY’RE ALL SO GOOD. (If you’ve been reading all the tags in which I spew out minute details of what I love about everyone’s performance, you will recognize that I am ridiculously impressed.)

Act 8’s parental conflict subplot will come up again at later episode. All the while, Usagi, Shingo and Ikuko are having a sitcom in the Tsukino household.

The Tsukino family already is their own sitcom. 

The thing is, I initially misread this as “You two made out, didn’t you?” and their reaction would be exactly this.

This would have been sad enough if she had delivered this line crying, but somehow when she’s smiling it’s even worse.

everyone needs a hug. Oh sure, Usagi doesn’t and it seems like she won’t. But you remember, don’t you? How that all changed in the anime when she remembered she was the princess. It’s even worse in PGSM.
