I’ve seen this sequence a dozen times now and I’m not sure what’s going on in this sequence. Did her friends willfully leave her alone? Were they murdered by the Negaverse as Usagi slept peacefully on? Were they a dream of Usagi’s the entire time? Did they just….. forget?
“Well, she passed out on the train, but it’s okay if we get off without her because she’s got a talking plush cat with her.”
Actually, since we never get to see Minako hanging out with the others in her school uniform within the show proper, I do tend to read this as Usagi’s dream of all the Senshi being friends together.
This interpretation is so much better because it doesn’t involve all of Usagi’s friends abandoning her, but it’s also a little heartbreaking because the only time all of them can be happy normal girls together is in Usagi’s dreams. It’s like a construal parfait with alternating layers.

NOW HOW SHOULD WE FIX THAT

OKAY USAGI’S FRIENDS
TRY TO MURDER USAGI
NOTHING BAD SHOULD HAPPEN
DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT
JUST TRY IT
Wrapping a strand of magical hair around someone else’s neck is probably the single least appropriate introduction there is on any occasion.
“Try it. I fucking dare you.”
OKAY I GUESS THAT’S ONE WAY TO PUT IT
They’re already sharing food. It’s only a matter of time until they are exchanging donuts in place of rings and saying impassioned speeches about grocery stores instead of wedding vows.
“NOT THAT I WOULD KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT PERSONALLY”
Mamoru can afford a motorcycle but he can’t afford, like, a book about nature or a CD of birdsongs
Usagi is too good to be real. She is a robot programmed to exhibit only selfless altruism.
