PGSM Reinako: I have to disagree that Minako at any point got kinder or cared for what Rei could want or need. I honestly can’t remember a single Reinako scene in which she wasn’t entirely selfish.

You might be a little bit prickly too if you knew you were going to die so you deliberately detached yourself from others so they wouldn’t be dependent on you when you’re gone

i don’t think her increase in kindness was to Rei specifically, but I just keep thinking of the episode where they (sort of) adopted a dog, and they both wanted to be the best at caring for the dog. This small plotline is mapped onto the bigger arc of who can be the best at protecting the princess, and if they couldn’t agree on the best way to raise a dog then they definitely don’t agree on the best way to save a person. The real plot twist is when Rei uses that competitive streak against Minako; in the game show episode, Rei lures Minako into a literal contest for a record contract, but a contest that is designed to prove that a) Minako will fight for what she wants (to keep being an idol), and b) the girls are important for who they are now, not just who they used to be. Minako wins, of course, but she also accidentally learns to love herself and appreciate the people around her. You’re absolutely welcome to your interpretation; this is just how I saw their arc.

The power and WiFi went out because of snow. I didn’t know what to do but engage in high quality memeing.

Just for the record this is the only reaction image I am going to use for anything ever again

Some jokes that end up becoming common and well-known in PGSM: A cape being twirled dramatically, Ami smiles or nods her head gratuitously, C’EST LA VIE, excessive uses of flashbacks in the later parts of PGSM, senshi using colour-coded items, Luna whacks someone, Kunzite screaming, *Princess Serenity staring into camera like in the office* , Senshi doing ballet during fight scenes instead of actual kicks, etc.

Sadly, the knitting subplot only lasts until the next huge twist you won’t see coming. I think it gets referenced once after that, but then it’s sadly forgotten.

I hope it doesn’t create a continuity snarl. The stories seem well stitched together. I hope the writers don’t pull the wool over my eyes when they had such a promising hook.

*Haruka tumbles in through the window* DID SOMEONE SAY ‘THE MISSION’

#good job not addressing the six months thing at ALL episode#this was in the previews from last episode!! i went in fully expecting answers this episode!!#but NO#i’m just going to operate under the assumption that minako has a lot of bargain jars of peanut butter#if the dog food is any indication she has a habit of buying in bulk#and she needs to protect Moon by pretending to be the princess#but at the same time she needs to make friends because all that peanut butter will go to waste#DONE

the tragedy will be if the other girls are all allergic to peanuts

I mean if someone asked you to pick the fake plotline out of these options which would it be honestly

a) My knitting reminds me too much of love lost to continue

b) A cat puppet told us not to befriend the mysterious man in formalwear

c) I bought too much peanut butter and it expires in six months

d) I compulsively steal jewelry to regain memories of a past life

I never thought I’d consider Motoki the most relatable character but here we are

Queen Metallia is actually 2000 bees, pass it on
