“oh hi Minako”
“YOU HAVE BEEN LIED TO. YOUR ROMANCE WILL LEAD TO TRAGEDY.”
“most people start a conversation with ‘hello’ but whatever”
#minako in this version is so intense#its also really interesting that she and usagi aren’t that close in PGSM#just a few episodes ago usagi was impressed that minako even remembered her name#this is much more the guardian/princess relationship than the friend/friend relationship (via @sailormoonsub)
Honestly, this is one of the main reasons that I love this version of Sailor Moon so fucking much. It takes other versions and then asks “what if” questions of the characters. “What if one of the Senshi got kidnapped and turned dark? What if Minako continued to be more like Sailor V than Sailor Venus? What if instead of cats, Luna and Artemis were plushies? What if Luna had a human form to help then Senshi out?” I mean, not all of those questions should have been asked, let alone answered (or at least not answered the way they ended up answered), but most of them are really fascinating looks at how little tweaks in characterization can really change the entire fabric of the same basic plot.
^Hardcore agree, thank you for your words! What I see in a lot of adaptations and sequels is that the creators don’t make any major changes out of fear that it will alienate fans of the original. PGSM is totally not afraid to depart radically from the source materials. In the anime, Luna got pretty boring after she had her one or two scenes of exposition. PGSM solves the problem by turning her into a human for a little bit. For sure, this isn’t what anyone asked for, but it technically does solve the problem of making Luna interesting again. Clever, clever writers.
