Am I the only one that thinks that what would’ve made PGSM even better is if Mamoru and Usagi DIDN’T end up together in the end? Not just because I ship Usagi with any of her Senshi (although I totally do >.>) but like I feel it would’ve made the message of the whole “The past and destiny doesn’t define you” message much stronger. I mean, Minako learned to move on from the past and value her current life, I feel it would’ve made it stronger if Mamoru and Usagi also broke free from each other.

THAT WOULD BE FUCKING GREAT

  • The Senshi agree that they are willing to lay down their lives for their princess’s miracle romance (and all it represents)
  • All the Shitennou die protecting their master and/or his moon gf
  • Beryl lets herself die because she can’t be with Mamoru
  • Serenity chooses to destroy the planet instead of live in a world without Mamoru in it. The earth becomes dust. Nothing exists anymore.
  • Mamoru and Usagi bring everything back through their combined love for the world they lived in
  • “you know what? let’s just be friends”

You know what’s interesting. I recently read the Stars arc of the manga, and there’s a lot about it tonally and thematically that maps really interestingly to PGSM.

OMG

THATS SO COOL

Honestly I want to shake PGSM’s hand for, like, actually looking at their source material and picking out elements that worked really well instead of trying to transcribe it as faithfully as possible. (sideeyes every single adaptation of a preexisting property I’ve seen in the past 5 years)

Sailor Luna died for this sounds like it would be a good meme. Just a clip of the death piano. “Sailor luna died for this!” . or other random gifs from different tv shows.

I hope you all know I’m going to start saying this whenever any kind of drama, conflict, or other assorted bullshit comes my way

Sailor Luna DIED for this

Sailor Luna died for THIS

“I legit had no idea they would actually go for it”: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

2 REAL 2 ACCURATE

Every now and then I have to remind myself… this was marketed toward like the 5-8 year old girl demographic and I can only hope they didn’t get as emotionally invested in it as I did

Even though it would have been incredibly shocking and hurt way too much if they actually ended the show with a dark note… I am so happy that they took the happy route haha

I 100% agree! It would have been NARRATIVELY satisfying if everything was left kind of bleak at the end. Not everyone can always be saved, and sacrifices have to be made. But the ending we got, deus-ex-machinas and all, was EMOTIONALLY satisfying, and that’s a trade-off I’m happy to make.
