I FELT THE EXACT SAME WAY I was like, back from the dead and brainwashed again? why not, apparently your minds are easier to wipe than a dry-erase board
PGSM is an artful masterpiece that utilizes deliberate ambiguity to its advantage, but also WHO KILLED PRINCE ENDYMION
I can live without finding out what character killed him.
The real question is whose hand is that in terms of actors? Kunzite? Motoki? Some random production crew that was promised a bit part?

I think that makes sense! So it’s meant to be interpreted on 2 different levels: Child’s eye view, very innocent, 0% premarital sex, look at those clowns. Mature adult’s eye view, oh ho HO, there is a baby in this equation, I have picked up on all your subtle hints. Almost like there’s two stories going on on two different layers of text. No one is more meaningful than the other. They are both equally valid. I like it.
Right? A lot of things really line up once you take that approach into consideration, and yet to me it REALLY was not obvious. I’m wondering how much of it is on me and how much is on the creators. Like, I definitely jumped to my own conclusions based on my own experiences and assumptions from both my individual perspective and the influence of Western culture (Usagi eating foods that are bad for her health; Luna worried because she’s afraid Princess Serenity will come back; Mamoru being a jerk because the special needs some kind of conflict; etc.). But at the same time, the creators left it deliberately ambiguous. Pregnancy is never explicitly mentioned, and the “signs” can be interpreted in completely different ways (which I did). Now, I’m a Barthes Bitch™ who believes that the author’s intent doesn’t matter and a text belongs to its readers. But in a situation like this, I might have completely misunderstood what the creator was attempting to portray. Is this a failure? On whose part? Where is the line between subtext and creator intent? Have I consumed art in the “wrong” way? Maybe this will all make sense later when I’m not three glasses of wine into this Saturday night.
I think, for Usagi, I would say that she learned that you can just wait and trust that a happen ending is going to happen. You have to work to make it happen and sometimes it’s hard work but it’s worth it the end. Y’know, so you don’t destroy the whole Earth and all that.
Going from Princess Serenity to Usagi Tsukino is god tier character development

There are few things in this, the year of our lord 2017, could make my cynical heart genuinely soar with delight without the burden of some greater pressure weighing it down, but this is one of them
I adore how these girls never stopped being friends, and how they make a point of documenting it whenever they get together. It’s like getting little glimpses into the lives of the actual senshi over the years after they’ve stopped being senshi. (photos courtesy of @real-life-senshi!)
Ami and Usagi throwing a shared birthday party so all their friends could make it.
Rei finally caving and throwing up the V sign, to Minako’s delight.
Mina still loves hats. Usagi still loves goofing off.
Mako still rocks the glasses.
Sometimes Mamoru’s weird friends show up (they’ve adopted Shingo into their ranks).
This is now the MOST IMPORTANT post on my blog because it’s proof that the story is never truly over and good friendships can last forever transcending the circumstances that brought them together. THANK YOU.
