I don’t know what all fancasts you’ve done but do you have one for Utena & Sailor Moon?

This one’s easy because all the friends are color-coded already! Beyond that…. I don’t really know. Utena and Anthy have Chibiusa and Hotaru’s color scheme, but Haruka and Michiru’s lifestyle. Wakaba can be Usagi because she is way too sweet and doesn’t deserve to even be stuck in this universe. Nanami is Chibiusa. The shadow puppet girls are the Tuxedo Mask puppet. ChuChu is The Mission.

(Addendum: I am so long overdue to rewatch RGU. Remember the time I liveblogged the first three episodes and then just straight-up forgot to continue? I promise to make amends.)

I don’t know if you have done this already but if you could assign SM characters to CCS roles (or vise versa), who would be who?

Usagi and Sakura are straight-up the same person

Kero is Luna but more medicated

Tomoyo is Ami because they are quiet and smart and love the shit out of their friends

MEILING IS REI HINO there’s not even a doubt in my mind right now

Syaoran is Mamoru for plot reasons and “if i run fast enough i don’t have to experience feelings” reasons

Kaho is Pluto because she is a mysterious mentor figure who just kind of appears in places, delivers one cryptic line, and then leaves.

Touya and Yukito are Haruka and Michiru because #gay but also #super protective of Usagi

Clow Reed is, like, if Queen Serenity was an asshole, which makes Eriol’s existence complicated. Maybe Eriol is Sailor V, who is always watching the others from a tall thing, trying to get them to awaken their powers and doesn’t reveal her true identity until the last part of the season. Which of course makes Spinel Sun Artemis.

Ruby Moon can be Makoto because Sailor V needs a friend, and someone needs to constantly throw herself at Haruka

Yamazaki is Umino and Chiharu is Naru, nonmagical pals who deserve only the best.

I can’t believe I haven’t made this parallel in my head before. 

Usagi is LITERALLY a princess who is trying to regain memories from her past

Mamoru is LITERALLY the belligerent snarky love interest with whom she shares an unremembered history

Beryl is LITERALLY an evil wizard who wants to destroy the royal family line to rule the world

And to fill in the gaps: Motoki is Vlad. Minako is Sophie. Jadeite is Bartok. Queen Serenity is Anastasia’s grandmother. Luna is the random dog that shows up in the middle.

You’re the only person I know of who actually read through the tag, so congratulations, you win! Gravity Falls is an amazing show, I’m a little surprised I haven’t brought this up as a crossover before. Nevertheless, this is what I want to do with my Friday night!

Mabel: 100000% Usagi. She is an optimistic fountain overflowing with love and compassion for all living things and some sock puppets

Dipper: Ami “just put down the statistical spreadsheets for 5 minutes and have some fun” Mizuno. Great at solving puzzles and observing phenomena. Not so great at the rest of life (sidenote: Dippy Fresh, but with Sailor Mercury, please discuss)

Grunkle Stan: Cat Dad Artemis

Soos: Also Usagi, tbh. This is a world of Usagis in a non-Usagi world

Wendy: Teen rebel Haruka, cooler and older than you

Ford: Cat Mom Luna???

Candy: maybe the one and only small strange Hotaru

I can’t believe how many characters this show has. 

First of all: Mr. Demartino and Mr. O’Neill are Crow and Siren, y/y

Ms. Barch is Petz, because men are obsolete

Principal Li: Probably Galaxia, she runs a tight ship and would sell souls for power

Ms. DeFoe: Doorknobder. Too chill for her own good

Mrs. Bennett: Mimette, they even kind of have the same hair

Bonus: Joey, Jeffy and Jamie as the Three Lights and TAD GUPTY AS CHIBICHIBI

An actual ask: On some level you knew that this was coming… Please sms cast Daria. Brittany would be a fabulous Usagi… But the inner senshi as the fashion club is also endless possibilities. Artemis as Jake? Any takers?

I will have you know this is more difficult than I ever anticipated. The trouble is that, rather than being defined by their relationships, all the characters in both Sailor Moon and Daria and defined by their personalities, but one with an optimistic view of humanity and one with cynicism. (Also, there are a shit ton of characters.) I however have been letting this sit in my drafts for months and I need closure as much as anyone else does. 

Daria: Haruka, cynical AF, expects the least out of people, but is still able to form close friendships. Though the jacket is Mamoru’s

Jane: Michiru, same as the above but takes out her misanthropy in artistic pursits. They get along really really well.

Quinn: Minako. Her shallow exterior is just a cover-up for her insecurities. Give her validation!!!

Sandy: Rei, gives the people she loves most a hard time and unwilling to share the spotlight once she has it (honestly Sandy is one of my favorite characters)

Stacy: Makoto. She is so eager to please everyone. 

Tiffany: Chibiusa, the Pink Ranger

Jake and Helen: Luna and Artemis. Parent figures who are kind of embarrassing but also get shit done.

Trent: BRAD, THE CUTEST GUY AT THE SCHOOL 

Brittany: honestly Usagi Tsukino. She has such good intentions. 

Kevin: by default, Mamoru

Tom: it’s a shame that this Tom subplot never ever happened in the Daria canon…….. oh well……

Unicorn/Amalthea: Definitely Serenity/Usagi. As Amalthea, she kind of has this duality of being and a memory of what she used to be, though since she is not longer living the experience, it fades from her mind. Plus, she doesn’t want to be alive if she’s the only one of her kind left. There’s a lot to cry about here.

That butterfly that never shuts up: Future ghost hologram King Endymion because he speaks in mysterious vague riddles when instead HE COULD JUST SAY EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANS

Mommy Fortuna: I’m getting a Nehelenia vibe from her; moderately powerful witch with big dreams and a downfall caused primarily by pride. Also owns a circus.

Schmendrick: Any number of people whose self-confidence had been improved by Usagi being in their life. mako? ami? pluto? everyone???

Molly: Minako/Venus, who remembers the legend of the unicorn/moon princess from her youth/past life and wants to protect it no matter what

King Haggard: Galaxia or something. Gotta catch ‘em all, whether it’s Star Seeds or unicorns

Lir: Mamoru, generic prince type

The Red Bull: It’s kind of an abstract manifestation of the corruption that comes from power and sexuality as well as the concept of inherent postitive or negative morality? idk maybe chibichibi

Have you done a Sailor Moon version of Hairspray? It would be so cute!

It would be cute! This is actually one of the ones that I have never seen and only know through third party sources (I know, what kind of musical fan AM I to have let this slide). I would love Usagi as Tracy though (chubby Usagi y/y) and probably the Three Lights as the Corny Collins show. And Minako as Penny, I think. If you have given this matter any thought (oh, I know you all have at some point) please let me know!
